Author Responsibilities
JEBS is committed to providing authors with a professional, transparent, and courteous experience throughout the review and publication process. In return, authors are expected to uphold the following responsibilities:
- Timely Communication: Authors should respond promptly to editorial queries and requests for revisions or clarifications throughout the review and publication process.
- Accountability for Content: Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of their submitted work. They should address and resolve any issues related to errors, misrepresentation, or research integrity if raised during the review process or post-publication.
- Confidentiality of Communications: All correspondence with JEBS editors, including editorial decisions, peer review comments, and manuscript drafts, should be treated as confidential until an editorial decision has been made and the paper is published.
- Ethical Authorship Practices:
- Authorship should include all individuals who have made a substantial and meaningful contribution to the research and writing of the manuscript.
- Individuals who have not contributed significantly, or who decline to be associated with the work, should not be listed as authors. Contributions from others can be acknowledged appropriately.
- Responsible Use of AI Tools:
- Consistent with COPE’s position, Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, cannot be credited with authorship as they lack the capacity for independent research design and cannot be held accountable for research integrity or originality.
- Authors must clearly describe the content created or modified by AI tools, cite the tool’s name and version, and provide proper attribution for any works or datasets drawn upon by the AI.
- Standard tools used solely for spelling or grammar improvements are excluded from this requirement.
- The Editor reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of AI tool usage in the manuscript.
- Ethical Compliance for Human Research:
- If the manuscript involves human participants, authors should ensure that the study has obtained appropriate ethical approvals from a recognised ethics committee.
- Authors should also confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants where required, and this information should be included in the manuscript.
By adhering to these responsibilities, authors contribute to the credibility, quality, and integrity of Journal of Entrepreneurial and Business Sustainability.
Prepare Your Manuscript
- Ensure your manuscript is complete, well-written, and free of grammar, spelling, or formatting errors.
- Check that your manuscript aligns with JEBS’s Scope and complies with the research and publishing ethics guidelines.
- Obtain any necessary publishing permissions (e.g., for reproduced figures or tables).
- Follow the formatting guidelines as specified in the JEBS author guidelines.
Anonymise Your Manuscript
- Remove all author names, affiliations, and any self-identifying information from the main manuscript.
- Use neutral phrases like “previous research has demonstrated” instead of “our previous research has demonstrated.”
- Do not include unpublished work by the authors in the reference list.
- Upload acknowledgments and author biographies as separate files.
- Check figures and captions to ensure no author names are visible.
Submission Process
- Submit your manuscript through JEBS’s system.
- Do not send submissions by email, third-party agents, or journal representatives.
- If this is your first submission to JEBS, create a new account.
- If you already have an account, you can use your existing username and password to login.
- Double-check your submission for completeness and compliance with JEBS’s requirements.
Editorial Check
- Once submitted, your manuscript will be screened by the JEBS editorial team.
- The editor may decline or return your manuscript at this stage if it does not align with JEBS’s Aims and Scope, or if the language, structure, or overall quality is deemed insufficient for peer review.
- If the manuscript is found suitable, it will proceed to the double-blind peer review process.
